The Highland Festival weekend includes four dance competitions. All dance events will be held in an outdoor location between the Learning Commons building and Swanson Academic Center. (Between #11 and #25 on the Festival Map, near Gate #5.)

The schedule for the Festival weekend is:

Saturday
- Pre-premier Competition – dancers compete in highland and national dances
- Pre-premier and Premier Choreography – dancers create their own dances to customized music and costumes
- Great Lakes Open Championship – Premier-level dancers compete for the Champion Title
